As part of providing opportunities for students to develop personal and social skills as well as encouraging students to become active safe and skilled in the outdoors, all year 6 children go on a camp.

Ngaio School’s year 6 camp is held at Forest Lakes in Otaki and is a fun, action packed four days away.

The camp is held in term 1 (usually late March or early April) each year and has been designed to meet these requirements and provide a range of opportunities for the children to:

  • Attempt and enjoy new activities in a supportive environment
  • Solve problems, make decisions and accept responsibilities
  • Develop team building, cooperation and interpersonal skills
  • Develop self-confidence and self esteem
  • Develop an awareness of environmental issues
  • Participate in a range of safe outdoor activities within their own capabilities and comfort zone.

Camp activities include:

  • Beach volleyball
  • Mini golf
  • Croquet
  • Raft building
  • Flying fox
  • Swimming
  • Orienteering
  • Trampolining
